Conference Season in Full Swing!

Conference season launched last week for me with a trip down to Austin, TX to speak at the Modern Governance Summit.  I was excited to speak on a panel with Michael Volkov which was then moderated by my friend and mentor, Ellen Hunt.  We had a great discussion about the role of compliance in creating a positive corporate culture and the role of the Board of Directors in fostering such a culture and supporting compliance.

2022 Communicator Award!

Such a proud moment to receive notice the podcast I an both the founder and host of was awarded a 2022 "Communicator" Award for excellence in business podcasts.  There were only 5 podcasts selected for an award in this category, one of them being mine this year.  

I'm especially proud given this is my first foray into podcasting.  I'm not sure whether to chalk this up to "Beginner's Luck" or to some skill on my part, but I'll take it either way!

Loyola University Chicago School of Law Journal of Regulatory Compliance

I haven't written an article for a legal journal in quite a while so I was thrilled to be invited to the 2022 winter edition of Loyola School of Law's Journal of Regulatory Compliance.  I know it likely sounds "geeky", but I really enjoyed writing this!  Besides which, I will now use the article as reading material for the course I am co-teaching on ESG at the law school this spring; quite efficient!

I had the great pleasure of being one of the keynote speakers for this conference here in Chicago yesterday.  It was the first time I had spoken "live" to an audience since 2019!

Top Glove Forced Labor Case

September 14, 2021

Today we learned that U.S. Customs and Border Protection will once again allow latex gloves produced by Top Glove in Malaysia to be imported into the U.S.  Their import was blocked under a Withhold Release Order starting in July of 2020, especially notable given the shortages of PPE the country has experienced during this ongoing pandemic, due to "indicators" of forced labor in the production of the gloves in Top Glove's plant in Malaysia.
