I had the great pleasure of being one of the keynote speakers for this conference here in Chicago yesterday. It was the first time I had spoken "live" to an audience since 2019!
My topic was "Compliance and Ethics in the New Normal" and was lucky enough to have a very engaged and interactive audience - it's always so much more fun to have a conversation with people than to stand up there and just talk "at" people.
We had lively conversations about the Fleisher's Deli situation and the expanding influence of employees in creating corporate culture. We talked about the Activision case and the expanding role of social media in corporate culture as well as whether compliance teams should be independent functions or part of legal. (I definitely favor the former and believe the DOJ does as well given the guidance they have issued on the topic.)
A day reconnecting with existing colleagues and making some new ones. So honored to have been included and invited!
